Journal of World Economy and Politics

Journal of World Economy and Politics is a general academic monthly on international economics and politics, published by the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The publication was launched in March, 1979 and had its title inscribed by Li Tieying, the foremer president of CASS.

Journal of World Economy and Politics has adhered to the principle of combining theory with practice in its probe into the strategic issues of the politico-economic world. Covering comprehensive topics, the publication is devoted to promotion of academic innovation and has the foresight to choose the most valuable issues to discuss. It is centered on study of the international relations and focuses on the major current issues in the field of domestic and international politics and economics.

For a long time, the publication has adopted the two-way anonymous expert refereeing system and established an editorial principle that values quality of the papers to be published. It has also sponsored a series of national academic conferences and organized the CASS International Forum, activities that serve as a major platform for academic exchanges and interaction between scholars as well as a main force to push academic research in the field of international relations in China.

Journal of World Economy and Politics has played an active role in contributing to the formation of an academic platform in the field of international relations and become a window for observing development in China's international relations. A forerunner in promotion of academic advancement, the publication has grown into one of the most influential academic periodicals on international political theory and had a substantial impact on the international relations circle in China. It was given the Excellent Periodicals Award for 2002 and 2005 by the CASS and tops the citation lists of international politics journals in three authoritative domestic indexing systems (Chinese Core Periodicals Index, 2004 edition, Citation Report of Chinese Academic Journals, 2004 edition, and Chinese Social Science Citation Index, 2005 edition).

Journal of World Economy and Politics includes the following Columns:Theories on International Relations: basic theories and methodology on nternational relations; World Politics: research in international politics, security, military and cultural issues as well as international political and economic relations; Non-traditional Security and China: non-military and politico-security issues and China's strategies; China and International Organizations: study of international mechanisms from multiple perspectives; Overseas Perspective: New findings by acknowledged overseas scholars; World Economy: World economic issues and relationship between world economy and politics.
