Zhang Ming: Macroeconomics and financial markets under the impact of the pandemic

On November 5, 2020, the third World Economic and Political Bi-weekly Forum was held with the theme of Macroeconomics and Financial Markets Under the Impact of the Pandemic. Senior Fellow Zhang Ming from the Institute of World Economics and Politics explained to the audience the global macroeconomic situation and the development trend of financial markets under the impact of the pandemic. The Forum was chaired by Zhang Bin, Senior Fellow and deputy director of IWEP.

At the beginning, Zhang carefully analyzed the development trends of the global macroeconomics and financial markets under the impact of the pandemic, pointed out that the global financial turmoil may continue in the future, and the risks of emerging market countries deserve serious attention; The global economy has fallen into a deep recession in 2020 and the speed of recovery may lag behind expectations in 2021. In the post pandemic era, protectionism and unilateralism will intensify, and the prospects for the evolution of the global industrial chain faces uncertainties.Regarding the current situation and outlook of China's macro economy, Zhang held that China's economic growth rate rebounded quarter by quarter in 2020, and the annual growth rate is expected to reach more than 2%. Zhang then gave some thoughts on the advancement of China's economic structural reform and the establishment of a new development pattern. In the end, he gave professional analysis and investment advice on global and domestic asset allocation, and interacted the audience in the Q&A session.
